Stover says Caine Black Knife probably isn't coming out till 2005 now. Which is fine by me, as long as we get it. XD
Yeah, Stover seems to have a gift of making the worst situation imaginable even worse. Speaking of mindfuck, everything that I'm reading with Deliann is one gigantic one. His infected leg has him getting fever hallucinations and it's hard to tell if what you're seeing from his POV is actually happening or just a fantasy... that is until you hear other characters talk about it later on.
So I'm sitting there like "ARG!" and then 2 chapters later, "Ohhhh..."
I love how Stover switches between narrative structures and the pacing is just great. I've found most fantasy-esc novels (if you want to call it one) tend to plod on and it's more of a chore to read it and find out what happens, rather then to enjoy it the entire way through.
Heather and I are like a 2-chick promotional committee, speading the word of MWS wherever we go. I'm really glad you like the books, Ed. But really, how could anyone not? Hehehehe.
Whenever Heather and I go to Borders, we get HD or BOT and *ahem* move it to a more eye catching place. Sometimes we put it at eye level at the top of the shelf. Sometimes we turn it so the cover faces out (esp. with BOT, that cover rocks). We always move Traitor in front of other NJO books. We are silly.
Yeah Ed, 'ouch' is a good way to put it. BOT is such a mind-fuck of a book. Just when you think things can't possibly get any worse, they do. And you're like "OH SHIT!" I love it.
I still haven't found a good quote for Dell, but I'm begining to love his character a lot more. I mean, I like all the characters, I even love to hate a lot of them. Kollberg, as much of a fuck as he is, is reminding me of Berne and that's always a good thing. Most of the other bastards like Vinse get gruesome enough deaths that their existance in the book is worth it. I just hope Gayle Keller bites it at some point. No such luck yet.
I'm more then halfway through BoT and all I have to say is... Pallas... ouch. Is there a spoiler tag or something, my HTML is kind of on the sucky side? I really don't want to spoil this or HD for anyone who happens to stumble acrcoss this place, because these books are an experience.
I mean, I can't count how many times I said "Holy shit!" at various parts. I love M.W.S so much. <3
